Conrad refutes PA Sangma Stadium ‘unsafe’ report

Shillong, Jan 17: The PA Sangma Stadium has not been “declared unsafe” as stated in a media report, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has said while terming the media report as completely incorrect and misinterpreted.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday while clarifying on a letter from District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to Coal India, the chief minister said the DDMA sought the land from Coal India for reconstruction of a retaining wall.

The DDMA’s letter to Coal India was to request land for extending the west stand and constructing a road to nearby localities.

DDMA stated that west stand area of the stadium needs to be constructed immediately, Sangma said.

The state government has already sanctioned Rs 45 crore for the reconstruction.

Meanwhile, the chief minister urged the media to do proper research before reporting on any matter.
