West Garo Hills District Administration Issues Prohibitory Orders

Tura, Jan 23: In the latest development related to the recent incident of assault by a group of unidentified persons on members of one NGO reported from Goalgoan area under Rajabala Police Station, the West Garo Hills District Administration has imposed restrictions prohibiting any unauthorized procession or unlawful assembly of 5 (five) or more persons, and the carrying of arms or any other instruments that may be used as weapons, including sticks, rods and stones in the sensitive areas from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. in villages falling under the jurisdiction of Hallidayganj, Rajabala, Phulbari and Tura Police Stations.

The recent incident of violence in the area has given rise to an apprehension of communal tension and a possible breach of peace and tranquility between different community groups in the District. As per police reports there have been few incidents of tensions arising in the areas having mixed population in the plain belt of West Garo Hills District out of miscommunication which have contributed to the distrust among communities and rising apprehensions among the people residing in those areas.

Hence as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident in the area and for public safety the District Magistrate, West Garo Hills, Tura issued the prohibitory orders under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) on Friday evening.

The prohibitory orders will come into immediate effect in all areas under the villages of Hallidayganj, Kasharipara, Charkasaripara,  Lalmati, Konarchar, Sobribari, Kharigaon, Panbari, Tetultulia, Borojhora, Jewali, Bollongre, Jeldupara, Boldamgre, Guaragre, Nawalgre, Gansenggre, Masangpani, Gudibala (Katmil), Gomaijhora, Demdema, Belbari, Babilgre, Songjalgre, Shyamding, Chibinang, Kokaimari, Batabari, Mengkakgre,  Chandigre, , Rongkon, Takimagre, Old Bhaitbari, Rajpur, Babulgre, Bamundanga, Chokchokia.
