Tynsong holds a series of meetings with higher authorities in New Delhi
Shillong, Feb 4: As part of the state government’s continued efforts to get access to defence land in Shillong for carrying out development activities, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Roads & Buildings) Prestone Tynsong has held meetings with higher authorities in New Delhi to push for the government agenda.
During his meeting with Director General of Defence, he emphasised the need for transfer of defence land in and around Shillong to the state government to carry out major development initiatives.
“Once these defence lands are handed over, we will be able to implement significant projects that serve the interests of our people and state,” Tynsong stated.
The Deputy Chief Minister also held some other high-level meetings to push key infrastructure projects in the state.
During his meeting with the Managing Director of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), he focussed on critical road projects, including extending the flyover to Barik Point and developing the High Speed Corridor from Umiam to Malidor, alongside improvements to the Shillong-Dawki and Phulbari-Agia roads.
“Completion of these major road projects will greatly benefit the people of Meghalaya,” he said.
Besides, the Deputy Chief Minister discussed with the Director General of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway the conversion of temporary bridges to permanent RCC structures and enhancements to key routes such as Shillong-Nongstoin-Tura and Phulbari-Rajabala-Mahendraganj to Mancacha.
