Minor held for raping 13-year-old girl in Lucknow

Lucknow, Apr 8: Police said on Wednesday that a 17-year-old boy was taken into custody for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Lucknow’s Ashiyana area.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the victim, who knew the accused, was led to a secluded spot, the police said, quoting the complaint lodged by the girl’s family.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Lucknow) Vikrant Vir said the police received information about the incident via the 112 emergency service, a complaint was lodged, and the accused was detained.

DCP Vir said a forensic team, along with other police officials, visited the incident spot to inspect and collect evidence.

Police said the girl has been sent for medical examination.

They said a case has been registered against the accused at the Ashiyana Police Station, and further legal action is underway. (PTI)
