Ampati, April 9: In a major push towards strengthening rural infrastructure, the newly constructed Mangsanggre Bridge was inaugurated on Thursday at Rongsang Abagre Adhoc School Playground in South West Garo Hills district.
The bridge, built under a convergence of the Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP) and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), was formally opened by MLA Miani D. Shira, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Anendya Raajsshre. Notably, the bridge was completed a year ahead of schedule.

The bridge is expected to significantly improve connectivity for residents of Mangsanggre and surrounding villages, easing transportation difficulties and enhancing access to essential services and economic opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Miani D. Shira described the bridge as a “major undertaking” that required substantial financial resources beyond the scope of individual MLA allocations. She said the project was taken up following persistent appeals from local leaders and community members, and highlighted that its completion through a convergence model demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated efforts among government schemes.
Deputy Commissioner Anendya Raajsshre lauded the MLA’s initiative in identifying grassroots needs and supporting both officials and villagers in executing the project. She emphasised the importance of collaboration between the community and administration, encouraging other villages to adopt similar convergence-based development works.
