Women reservation: BJP Mahila Morcha hails PM Modi

Shillong, April 12: The state BJP Mahila Morcha has hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making efforts for progress and empowerment of women of the country.

“As a woman, I thank our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji for all that he has done for women,” Mahila Morcha president Arena Hynniewta said in a statement on Saturday.

Underlining the need for increased representation of women in legislative assemblies and Parliament, Hynniewta said, “Previous governments only talked about women’s representation, but it’s time to act.”

“The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam offers an opportunity to ensure women’s reservation in elected bodies, shaping our democracy’s future,” she said.

She also mentioned that women of Meghalaya have always played a crucial role in society, excelling in various fields.

Highlighting the NDA government’s initiatives for women empowerment, she said, “The NDA government’s schemes for education, healthcare, and financial empowerment have contributed to women’s progress nationwide.”
