Senior journalist Subroto Bhattacharjee releases new book ‘Surreal Symphony of Nature’

Shillong, Aug 12: Senior journalist Subroto Bhattacharjee who had professional connections in Meghalaya and the Northeast released his book on Meghalaya titled “Surreal Symphony of Nature” which is available on Amazon.

This book attempts to acquaint the rest of India with the state of Meghalaya comprehensively and entertainingly. Highlighting interesting places to visit, the book also throws light upon how the state was formed from the parent state of Assam, the progress the state has made since some interesting facts about a few illustrious personalities from Meghalaya making India proud.

Centuries-old festivals, rumours, scandals and folklore about some places also form part of the book.

This book not only offers a multifaceted glimpse of the state of Meghalaya but also hopes to inspire the readers to further exploration of whatever catches their fancy.

Surreal Symphony Of Nature published by Notionpress.com is on sale via Amazon.

Subroto spent his childhood in Assam and Meghalaya and has been a journalist in the Northeast for about 45 years. An avid reader, fond of travelling and meeting people he was often taken aback by how little the rest of India knew about the Northeast.

After his retirement as the bureau chief of UNI (United News of India), Subroto, among other things, wrote scripts for the Doordarshan on places of tourist interest in Meghalaya and other northeastern states.

The idea of the book germinated from a few of these scripts.

Presently residing in Kolkata, ’85 year-young,’ Subroto believes journalist never retires and presents this book, long overdue, hoping to spread his love and enthusiasm for the Northeast in general and Meghalaya in particular.
