Shillong, May 11: With final response from the defence ministry on land for relocation of Harijan Colony still pending, the state government will hold a meeting next month to review the relocation plan for 342 families from the colony at Them Iew Mawlong here.
“…next month we will be having a meeting again on this issue. We will update,” Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Urban Affairs, Sniawbhalang Dhar, told reporters on Monday.
On the response from defence ministry to the state government’s proposal, Dhar said, “We are yet to take a call on whether we will go with the defence land… if they are ready or not, or whether we will proceed according to the previous blueprint.”
“We have to take a call on this,” he said.
Informing about the active coordination between the state government and Defence Ministry on the matter, he said the government has of late not received any update from the ministry on the issue.
Acquiring defence land is one of the multiple options being considered by the government for relocation of the Harijan Colony as part of its plan to decongest the area.
