Closure notice for Shillong-Dawki road stretch

Shillong, May 17: The SDO (Civil) Pynursla has announced a three-day closure of the Laitlyngkot-Lyngkyrdem stretch of Shillong-Dawki road for all vehicular movement to facilitate construction activities.

The under-construction road shall remain closed till 7 am of 20 May 2026, according to the official notification.

The action was “necessitated in the interest of public safety and for carrying out necessary construction activities, movement of heavy machineries, excavation and related activities”, it stated.

In the statement, Additional Deputy Commissioner G Warjri urged commuters to use alternate routes during the period.

“All commuters are requested to cooperate and make alternative routes through Pynursla-Dawki-Amlarem and Pynursla-Nongjri-Sohra road and (or) plan their journey accordingly,” the notice read.
