‘Maha Aartis’ across Gujarat as Modi becomes India’s longest-serving elected PM

Gandhinagar, Jun 10: The BJP organised ‘maha aartis’ across temples in Gujarat on Wednesday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the longest continuously serving elected PM of India, party leaders said.

Modi completed an unbroken tenure of 4,399 days on Wednesday, surpassing the record of the first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who was in office for 4,398 days.

“On Wednesday morning, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel participated in the maha aarti at Trimandir, Adalaj, Gandhinagar. Gujarat BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma will attend the maha aarti at the ancient Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple at Vadnagar (PM Modi’s hometown) in Mehsana district at 7 pm,” a party release stated.

Special prayers were being held for the long life and good health of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it said.

As part of a campaign titled ’12 years of continuous trust, development and public welfare’, BJP leaders, elected representatives, party workers, and local citizens will take part in ‘maha aarti’ ceremonies at temples across various districts and municipal corporations of Gujarat.

Cleanliness drives will also be carried out as part of the campaign, officials said.

Several Gujarat ministers and regional leaders of the BJP will attend ‘maha aarti’ ceremonies later in the day at various temples in the state, including Kutch, Vadnagar and Pavagadh in Gujarat, they added. (PTI)
