Shillong, July 14: The state government will send a delegation to Delhi next month to push for Institute of National Importance (INI) status for North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS).
Informing this on Tuesday, Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla said he raised the issue with the Union Health Minister during his recent visit to Shillong for a Parliamentary Committee meeting on health matters.
“The Union Minister assured that they will follow up on this from their side. They have also asked us to submit the required documentation,” Shylla told reporters.
Stating that he took up the matter with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Shylla said, “We are preparing the documents. The CM has assured that we will continue to pursue this.”
The minister said the delegation will go to Delhi “very soon in the coming month” to take up the demand for INI status for NEIGRIHMS with the Centre.
