MP: Two brothers killed, two injured in clash over land in Morena

Morena (MP), Aug 2: Two brothers were killed and two other persons were seriously injured after two factions of an extended family clashed over alleged encroachment on a tract of government land in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district on Sunday, police said.

The incident took place at Hatupura village within the jurisdiction of Sumawali police station, where the two sides have been at loggerheads over possession of the government land, they said.

The dispute escalated on Sunday when members of both groups, armed with sticks, firearms and sharp-edged weapons, allegedly confronted each other.

Rajveer Gurjar (42) and his brother Ajab Singh alias Bantu (30) died on the spot after sustaining bullet injuries and cuts, police said.

Sumawali Station House Officer Ravi Gurjar said Vikas Gurjar and Pappu, alias Dhirendra, were seriously injured in the clash. They have been referred to a hospital in Gwalior for advanced care.

Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and registered a case of murder against about half a dozen persons, the official said.

Efforts are underway to trace the accused, who are on the run, he said.

Police said that they are yet to find whether the absconding accused suffered any injuries during the confrontation.

Heavy police deployment has been made in the village to maintain law and order as tension prevails in the area, the official added.(PTI)
