Arunachal: 132 kV Aalo-Kamba transmission line, substation energised

Itanagar, Aug 21: The power infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh received a major fillip with the charging of the 132 kV Along-Kamba transmission line and the 132/33 kV Kamba substation, marking a significant milestone in the state’s drive toward energy security.

Describing the development as an investment in the future of the West Siang district and neighbouring districts, Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Friday emphasised that the strengthened network would ensure better power reliability and greater grid stability.

“A stronger transmission network means better power reliability, greater grid stability, and the capacity to meet rising energy needs,” Mein, who also holds the Power and Non-Conventional Energy Resources portfolio, said in a statement.

He said the newly commissioned infrastructure would provide ‘crucial support’ for the construction requirements of the Tato Hydroelectric Power Projects in Shi-Yomi district, further bolstering the foundation of the state’s burgeoning power sector.

The commissioning of these facilities is part of a larger, state-wide push to modernise and expand power connectivity.

According to project officials, 95 out of 239 project elements under the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening Transmission and Distribution System (CSST&DS) have now been charged.

Commending the collaborative efforts involved, Mein lauded the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), the Department of Power, executing agencies, district administrations, and all local stakeholders.

“Together, we are strengthening the infrastructure that will power Arunachal’s development for years to come,” the deputy chief minister added.

The expansion is expected to have a transformative impact on the region’s economy by providing the necessary energy backbone for both domestic consumption and upcoming industrial projects in the state. (PTI)
