Marwahi (Chhattisgarh), Aug 23: A couple died after lightning struck their house during heavy rain in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred on Saturday night in Katra Dhapnipani village under Marwahi police station limits.
The victims — Mangal Singh (45) and his wife Biraspatia Bai (40) — were at home when lightning struck. Both of them collapsed, following which their family members and villagers rushed them in an ambulance to the Community Health Centre, where doctors declared them dead, a police official said.
The police have initiated necessary proceedings in connection with the incident, he added. (PTI)
