Govt approves SOP for DSCs to streamline recruitment
Shillong, Aug 26: The process of interview for Group-C non-technical posts under District Selection Committees (DSCs) will be discontinued from next year.
Announcing the government decision to be implemented from 1 January 2027, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the move is part of the government’s ongoing recruitment reforms.
“It is a continuation of the reforms process that we have started,” Sangma said after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
“Earlier, based on recommendations of the UPSC and our own reforms commission, we had discontinued interviews for Group-D posts in the DSCs. Today, we have further removed interviews for Group-C non-technical posts,” he said.
Sangma said technical posts under Group-C will continue to have interviews and the Personnel department will notify the list of posts classified as technical and non-technical.
Sangma said the government will take three to four months to amend service rules to implement the decision.
“Advertisements issued from January 1, 2027 onwards will not have interviews for Group-C non-technical posts,” he said.
The cabinet also approved a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for DSCs to streamline recruitment.
“The DSCs function in all districts and are engaged in many activities, so sometimes basic recruitment procedures are missed. To prevent that, the cabinet has approved an SOP to be followed by all DSCs,” Sangma said.
He added that training will be conducted for deputy commissioners and concerned officials for early implementation of the SOP, which will later be extended to other recruitment boards including medical, rural development and police.
