2,742 mobile towers in Meghalaya

Shillong, Aug 26: Meghalaya has 2,742 mobile towers as of August 1, 2026, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed the Assembly on Wednesday.

Replying to a question by MLA Gabriel Wahlang on Artificial Intelligence infrastructure, Sangma said the state’s total tele-density stands at 88.11 per cent.

Quoting TRAI’s Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicator for January-March 2026 released on June 22, he said rural tele-density is 70.55 per cent while urban tele-density is 155 per cent.
