Shillong, Aug 31: The BJP is yet to announce their candidate for the upcoming Shillong Lok Sabha by-election, with senior leader AL Hek stating that the final decision rests with the party’s central leadership.
“The state has no role in declaring the names of the candidates. It has to come from the national leaders,” Hek said when asked about the announcement.
The state BJP had earlier stated that nine names, including one woman, have been shortlisted and sent to the high command for final selection.
