Shillong, Sept 6: Former Mawshynrut MLA Gigur Myrthong has termed Dr DRL Nonglait, the NPP candidate for Shillong Lok Sabha bye-election, as a man of integrity who does not make false promises.
“Dr Nonglait does not speak carelessly. If we give a commitment and cannot fulfill it, it will be a disgrace. So we speak only what we should speak,” he said at a campaign meeting at Maweit in West Khasi Hills.
He, significantly, said West Khasi Hills needs a leader who walks the right path.
Referring to “wrong choices” made in the past, he said, “In the past, we elected someone, but it led to nowhere because we made a mistake, and the entire state lost.”
Urging voters to rise above party affiliations, Myrthong said, “Let us not be partisan. Let us wholeheartedly support Dr Nonglait, who is capable and a man of integrity.”
“It is difficult to find good people. We need a person who walks on the right path,” he said.
“Dr Nonglait is consistent in his life. He does not make false promises, he speaks only what should be spoken,” he added.
