Experiential Learning Centre inaugurated at Baghmara

Baghmara, Aug 21:  Education Minister RA Sangma unveiled the plaque for the inauguration of Experiential Learning Centre at Baghmara on Tuesday in the presence of MLA from Baghmara Constituency KR Marak, Deputy Commissioner of South Garo Hills district R Yanthan and other senior officials of South Garo Hills.

RA Sangma, who represents Rongara Siju Constituency, spoke about the importance of learning and stated that “Learning starts from birth to grave”. He also said that if you want to become someone in future be willing to learn and listen.

The Minister further urged the students present to imbibe in their knowledge from all sources be it social media or any other source as the present generation has been controlled by technology so if you are updated today you will update tomorrow, the Minister said.

This Experiential Learning Centre Baghmara is being started under the active initiatives of the former Deputy Commissioner of South Garo Hills S Awasthi during his tenure as DC  Baghmara. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting funds this project. 

This Learning Centre will provide exposure to the students to learn by doing. The Learning Centre comprises three components viz, Digital Lab, Computer Lab and Gaming Zone.

In the Digital Lab, smart TV screens were set up for the students with the contents of the recent syllabus of NCERT framed by MBOSE from class kg to class XII. The Lab has 20 tablets with pre-loaded contents of the NCERT syllabus from class kg to class XII. It has also 20 VR heads with a variety of games.

It has a gaming zone where 2 motor car racing, one bike racing machine, one VR machine and two football were installed. The students can learn as well as playing the centre.

The centre has been set up with the purpose of employment generation for the youth. The centre will be managed by the local society called the Society for Empowerment and Development of Youth.

During the inaugural programme, Baghbar MLA KR Marak, Deputy Commissioner of South Garo Hills R Yanthan and Additional Deputy Commissioner PR Marak spoke.
