Australia, Jharkhand discuss cooperation in skills, minerals, tourism

Ranchi, Sep 16: Australian Consul-General in Kolkata Bernard Lynch on Wednesday met Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and discussed ways to deepen cooperation in areas such as skills and technical education, minerals, technology and tourism.

The two discussed areas of mutual interest and potential collaboration, including skills and technical education, technology and innovation, minerals, sports, tourism, and indigenous cultures and knowledge systems, Soren said in a post on X.

“It was a pleasure to meet Mr Bernard Lynch, Australian Consul-General in Kolkata, in Ranchi and engage in a constructive dialogue on deepening the partnership between Jharkhand and Australia,” the CM posted on X.

“Our discussions covered areas of mutual interest and significant potential for collaboration, including skills and technical education, technology and innovation, minerals, sports, tourism, and the rich indigenous cultures and knowledge systems of our two regions,” he said.

Soren said Jharkhand’s strengths in natural resources, human capital and indigenous heritage offer several avenues for meaningful engagement with Australia’s expertise, institutions and industry.

“We look forward to building on this dialogue and advancing a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial Jharkhand–Australia partnership in the days ahead,” the CM added.

Earlier, Bernard met Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar at Lok Bhawan.

Discussions were held on various subjects concerning Jharkhand, including tourism, culture, education, and skill development, a press release issued by Lok Bhavan said.

The governor said Jharkhand is a state rich in tourism potential. Its natural beauty, comprising mountains, lakes, waterfalls, waterbodies, and forest areas, along with its rich tribal and cultural heritage, attracts tourists. (PTI)
