Shillong, Sept 23: Chief Electoral Officer Dr BDR Tiwari on Tuesday said 85.53 per cent of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearings has been completed, while 999 notices are yet to be delivered.
Sharing the status after holding an online review with District Election Officers, EROs, AEROs and other officials, Tiwari said, “Out of 21,69,243 electors included in the Draft Electoral Roll, 6,51,735 notices were generated. Of these, 6,50,736 notices have been delivered, leaving only 999 notices pending delivery. A total of 5,57,402 hearings have been conducted, representing 85.53% of the notices generated.”
He added, “So far, 659 electors have been found ineligible for inclusion in the Final Electoral Roll after the prescribed process, while 17,97,168 electors from the Draft Electoral Roll are reported as eligible so far for Final Publication.”
Of total notices, 2,22,786 pertain to No Mapping cases and 4,28,949 to mapping discrepancies, which the CEO said must be handled with due care.
Tiwari directed officials to expedite remaining hearings while ensuring every elector gets a fair and reasonable opportunity to establish eligibility and submit documents, clarifying that receipt of notice does not mean automatic deletion.
Post-Draft publication, the state has received 20,948 applications — including 11,548 for inclusion (Form 6), 1,220 for objection/deletion (Form 7), and 8,180 for shifting and correction (Form 8). He ordered timely disposal as per procedure.
He also noted 1,814 Booth Level Agents have been appointed by recognized national and state parties.With the claims and objections window closed on September 18, the deadline for disposal and completion of hearings is October 17, while Final Publication is scheduled on October 21.
Issuing a public advisory, the CEO urged electors to check their names, respond to notices and attend hearings on time through voters.eci.gov.in or ECINET app, and to verify inclusion after final publication, as EPIC alone does not guarantee voting rights.
