Tura, Sept 24: The Tura Municipal Board (TMB) has announced that World Rabies Day 2026 will be observed on September 28, under the global theme “Stronger Together” — a call to action that highlights the One Health approach linking human, animal, and environmental health.
As part of the observance, TMB will conduct a Rabies Vaccination Drive in collaboration with the District Animal Husbandry & Veterinary (AH & Veterinary) Department, Tura.
The drive follows a recent Joint Field Survey carried out across the Tura Municipal Area, which found that Tura has no feral or unowned dogs — every free-roaming canine in the town has an identifiable caretaker, community guardian, or household owner.
Officials say the finding reflects the community’s collective commitment to animal health and welfare, and offers a rare opportunity to work toward making Tura rabies-free through responsible pet ownership and timely vaccination.
All pet owners in Tura and surrounding areas are urged to bring their dogs and cats — aged above three months — for anti-rabies vaccination on Monday, September 28, 2026, at the State Veterinary Dispensary, Brahminpara, Tura, between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
The Tura Municipal Board has appealed to all residents to take part in the drive and support efforts to keep Tura a safe, rabies-free town for both people and animals.
