Shillong, Sept 26: United Democratic Party (UDP) has not yet decided if it would seek disqualification of the eight MLAs who joined the BJP in New Delhi on Thursday.
“I will come back to you, whatever there is for us to do,” UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh, one of the four remaining MLAs, told reporters when asked about the disqualification.
On the MLAs switching sides, he said, “Those who joined, let them join. That is their personal decision.”
Asked if the UDP would follow the Congress in seeking disqualification of five MLAs who had joined the NPP, Lyngdoh said, “I have nothing to say about other parties.”
While eight UDP MLAs have switched sides to BJP, the party has suspended three of them — Kyrmen Shylla, Mathew Beyondstar Kurbah and Olan Sing Suin — for failing to respond to the show cause notice issued over their announcement of joining another party.
