Shillong, Oct 6: Three scientists from the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) have made it to the Top 1000 scholars in the 2026 Scholarly Index Ranking.
Dr Mohit L Deb, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, secured World Rank 129 and India Rank 15. Dr Yugal Kishore Mohanta, Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Biology, was ranked 398th globally and 45th in India, while Dr Golam Mohiuddin, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, secured World Rank 844 and India Rank 89.
Dr Mohit L Deb was recognised for his work on the synthesis of indole derivatives, placing him among the highest-ranked scholars from India in the chemistry field.
Dr Yugal Kishore Mohanta was recognised for his work on the synthesis and applications of nanoparticles, an area of growing interest in nanobiotechnology.
Dr Golam Mohiuddin was recognised for his research in liquid crystals, adding to USTM’s presence in international scientific research.
The university said the recognition reflects its focus on research, innovation and academic excellence, along with its commitment to teaching, community engagement, inclusivity and sustainable regional development.
Established in 2011, USTM received an ‘A’ Grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council in its first cycle in 2021. The university is also ranked among the top 200 universities under the National Institutional Ranking Framework
