Shillong, Oct 13: Clearance procedures for MSMEs are set to get easier, with the Cabinet on Tuesday approving an ordinance to facilitate faster establishment of operations.
The Meghalaya Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Facilitation and Establishment of Operations Ordinance will allow entrepreneurs to apply for multiple clearances simultaneously, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said.
“The Ordinance will not exempt MSMEs from any requirement but will make life much easier for them,” Sangma said.
He said the government had been taking steps to improve ease of doing business and the state had ranked high in removing unnecessary regulations.
“This Ordinance is in line with the ease of doing business guidelines issued by the Government of India to all states,” he said.
Sangma said the facilitation would apply only to white-category industries that do not require pollution-related Consent to Establish (CTE) and Consent to Operate (CTO), covering clearances such as MUDA and municipal permissions, as well as registrations.
