Shillong, Oct 15: The state government has maintained that all due procedures have been followed regarding the service of the state’s Director General of Police (DGP).
“What delay? When is the incumbent DGP retiring?” asked Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong while reacting to VPP’s demand for an explanation on the “delay in appointment of a regular DGP”.
The incumbent DGP Idashisha Nongrang will be retiring in November this year.
Earlier, the VPP had pointed out that the UPSC had issued a second reminder to the state government on the issue.
“Well, whatever the UPSC or Ministry of Home Affairs, we are complying with all procedures,” Tynsong said.
He also urged the VPP to approach him personally for more clarity on the matter.
“I will explain to them the actualities,” he said.
