Shillong, Oct 19: Paul Lyngdoh, who along with two other MLAs left the UDP to merge with ruling NPP, said their move is not conditional and aimed at serving the state better.
“It was unconditional and on the basis of our collective decision as a team of three who saw that the NPP provides the best possible platform for the kind of service that we would like to deliver to the state,” the West Shillong MLA said after submitting merger documents of the three MLAs to Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma on Monday.

Asked if he still nurses a grudge against the UDP, he replied, “No, I hold no grudge against anyone.”
On his recent remarks against UDP chief Metbah Lyngdoh, he said, “I kept telling you that I will only present facts and figures and not my personal opinion also.”
On speculation about a cabinet reshuffle, Lyngdoh said, “That is a question for the leader, the CM,” and added that the Chief Minister has not given any indication in this regard.
Asked whether Metbah Lyngdoh should continue as cabinet minister after losing 11 MLAs, he shot back, “You earlier said that I was obsessed with Metbah. Now you are the one showing your obsession with him. Dropping or accommodating anybody in the cabinet is solely the prerogative of the Chief Minister.”
On why he left the UDP, Lyngdoh said, “Not just me, 11 of us have left the UDP. It is a whole football team.”
