Shillong, Oct 23: Keeping in view the back-to-back petrol bomb attacks in Shillong, the East Khasi Hills district administration has taken up the two prime tasks of building public confidence and tracking down the attackers.
Deputy commissioner Abhilash Baranwal said sector magistrates and district officers are in constant touch with Rangbah Shnong, headmen and community leaders to reassure residents.
“As far as law and order is concerned regarding these ongoing petrol bomb hurling incidents, the district administration has two jobs to do. One is to have confidence building measures with the localities, with different populations,” the DC said.
“That is continuously being done through our officers, sector magistrates with the Rangbah Shnong, headmen and with different community leaders to build confidence about the seriousness of the district administration,” he added.
On police action, the DC said, “As far as policing is concerned, the office of the Superintendent of Police is doing all it can to try and identify the culprits behind it so that they can be brought to book.”
Responding to a query on the less number of VDPs in Shillong town, he said the matter has been flagged at the locality level.
“That is also one of the points being raised by sector magistrates with the different localities,” he said.
