A Symphony of Musical Magic from Rhythm School of Music and Jasiel Peter

Tura, Dec 13: Meghalaya is still crooning to the melodies of Bryan Adams and grooving to the acoustic rhythms of ‘Europe’.  Hot on their heels, Tura got treated to an equally profound musical extravaganza on Thursday night.

Although ‘quieter’ than the recent mega concerts, Rhythm School of Music’s ‘Recital cum Annual Concert’ showcased an enchanting evening which featured the extraordinary talents of young musicians, highlighted in tandem by the virtuoso Jasiel Peter, all in all, a spectacular pageant that left the audience mesmerised.

The classical musical show brought together around 150 students, with the youngest a 4-year-old! Their mastery over instruments comprising the violin, piano, guitar, ukulele, and percussion animated the audience via a synthesis of harmonies that were expressive, energetic, and evocative.

Rhythm School of Music’s founder, Tito Sangma, expressed his pride in the students, stating, “The annual concert gives an opportunity for the students to showcase what they have learned in the school. It also empowers the children to perform on stage, a vivid and vibrant experience that boosts their morale and confidence.

The students, grouped into ensembles, performed various musical genres to create a symphony that reflected their skills and their passion for music. One of the standout performances was a stunning instrumental rendition of the ‘Game of Thrones’ original soundtrack, performed by an ensemble of violin, keyboard, guitar, and drums.

The highlight of the show was undoubtedly the stellar performance by Jasiel Peter, a violin ATCL and double bass FTCL. An alumnus of the prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, Jasiel brought his expertise to the stage with outstanding renditions, including Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’, leaving the awed audience speechless.

The rockfest not only displayed the young students’ progress but also exhibited that the musical talent and potential was alive and well in the Garo Hills. The gathering of parents, students, and music enthusiasts left the venue inspired by the talent and dedication throughout the evening.
