AAMSU protests atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh

Guwahati, Dec 3: The All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) submitted a memorandum on Tuesday to the Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Guwahati, expressing strong opposition to reported atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh.

The student body also condemned the alleged desecration of the Indian national flag, calling for immediate action by the Bangladesh government to address these issues.

In its memorandum, AAMSU emphasized the fundamental rights of every Bangladeshi citizen to live with dignity, free from persecution. The group expressed serious concerns over the reports circulating in electronic, print, and social media regarding atrocities on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh and the disrespectful treatment of India’s national flag.

AAMSU criticized the lack of visible measures to curb such incidents, stating, “For the last few days, media reports have highlighted these issues, but no effective steps have been taken to prevent such incidents.”

The student body urged the Assistant High Commissioner to convey their concerns to the Bangladesh government, adding, “We request you to ensure that ongoing atrocities on minorities and desecration of the Indian national flag are stopped immediately.”

The student body seeks not only to address the rights of minorities in Bangladesh but also to reinforce diplomatic dialogue between the two nations to prevent further incidents.
