Guwahati, May 15: In a global first, Airtel has launched an AI-powered Fraud Detection Solution that detects and blocks malicious websites in real-time—across all digital communication platforms including email, browsers, OTT apps like WhatsApp and Telegram, social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, and traditional SMS services.
This cutting-edge threat protection service will be automatically activated for all Airtel mobile and broadband users at no extra cost. When a customer attempts to access a website identified as fraudulent, the page will be blocked and redirected to an alert explaining the threat.

The move comes amid a spike in online scams across India. Online fraud has now evolved beyond traditional OTP theft and fake calls, with millions falling prey to increasingly sophisticated digital scams. Airtel’s new platform aims to protect users from the entire spectrum of cyber threats.
Airtel’s system uses a multi-layered intelligence platform powered by artificial intelligence. It monitors traffic in real-time, cross-checks URLs with global threat databases and Airtel’s own threat repository, and filters out harmful domains across all user devices.
Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel, said “We’ve seen countless cases of unsuspecting users losing their money to digital fraud. Our engineers have developed this AI-driven solution to give users total peace of mind. After six months of trials, the system has achieved impressive accuracy, and we will continue to enhance it until our networks are entirely scam-free.”
With this launch, Airtel sets a new global benchmark in telco-led cybersecurity, taking a proactive stance in protecting its customers from the growing menace of digital fraud.
