Assam Congress returns Himanta salvo

Guwahati, Aug 5: Assam Congress president Bhupen Borah has lashed out against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for claims that the Congress failed to check against influx and depended on the vote of a particular community to win elections.

“The BJP fought the last election on a vision document, but now Assam CM does not speak about that Vision document. People of Assam wants to know when will he speak on the pending demand of scheduled tribe status for six indigenous communities in Assam?” queried the congress leader.

He targeted the chief minister and his BJP government taunting them for remaining silent on the rising inflation plaguing the state and country.

“When will he (Sarma) speak on Inflation, on his promise of flood free, erosion free Assam, on the wages of the tea laborers that was promised to be increased.
They were supposed to dredge the Brahmaputra what happened to it?”

Bora dared the chief minister for a dialogue on his reply over the vision document of the BJP hat was promised during the Assam elections.

“What about the dues of Assam with the centre?” demanded the Congress as it accused the chief minister of being powerless to challenge the central government.

“To  hide your failure, you want to bring new things,” said Bora.
