Patna, Jun 4: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday instructed officials to ensure that safety audits and inspection of bridges in the state are conducted regularly.
At a high-level review meeting with officials from the Road Construction Department, he said there should be no negligence in maintaining the quality of the roads and in bridge construction.
“Providing safe, convenient and high-quality road connectivity to people is one of the state government’s highest priorities,” Choudhary was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.
He emphasised providing adequate financial resources for the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges so that high-quality projects are completed on time.
Choudhary reviewed the progress of the Munger-Bariyarpur-Ghorghat-Sultanganj-Bhagalpur-Sabour four-lane Ganga Path project, which will be implemented under the hybrid annuity model.
The project will enhance connectivity in eastern Bihar and boost the region’s economic development and tourism, he said.
The meeting was attended by Bihar’s Road Construction Minister Kumar Shailendra, the chief minister’s principal secretary Deepak Kumar, chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit, Road Construction Department secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal, and others. (PTI)
