Central leadership happy with Conrad Govt: Sanbor Shullai
Shillong, Sept 29: Putting an end to speculation about a rift in the ruling alliance, BJP leader and Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai on Tuesday said the NPP-BJP alliance under the NDA is intact and reports of NPP legislators merging with the BJP are false.
Shullai, who is the Leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Meghalaya, said he has received clear communication from the BJP central leadership on the matter.
“As confirmed by central leaders, the BJP-NPP alliance is intact. The central leaders have clarified that there is no such talk and they are happy with the Conrad Sangma-led government in the state,” Shullai said.
He maintained that the alliance is strong both at the Centre and in the state.
“Since NPP and BJP share an alliance at the Centre, all is well between both parties,” he stated.
Praising Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Shullai said, “Our CM is dynamic and has always taken care of our constituency.”
He further informed that BJP legislators will soon call on the Chief Minister to seek support for their constituencies, as per directions from the central leadership.
“As per instruction received from central leaders, all the BJP MLAs along with our state president are likely to meet the CM and seek his support in all the respective constituencies,” he said.
Rubbishing rumours circulating on media and social media about NPP MLAs switching over to the BJP, Shullai said, “All media and social media reports claiming NPP MLAs to merge with BJP are fake. There is no such talk with NPP MLAs.”
He warned that no state leader has been authorized to hold such talks.
“If any state leaders are doing such talk then there is no authentication, as central leaders have abruptly denied such talk and have cautioned party leaders before giving any such statement which affects the healthy alliance between NPP and BJP,” Shullai added.
