Blaze damages residence linked to Meghalaya’s First CM’s Family

Tura, March 25: A fire that broke out at the home of Fersen Ch Momin, father of Daryl William Ch Momin, who is son-in-law of former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, in Hawakhana has caused extensive damage with fire fighters from the Fire and Emergency department fighting the blaze for almost an hour before containing it on Tuesday.

The blaze broke out just before noon and is suspected to have been caused by a electrical short circuit.

Fersen is the son of Meghalaya’s first chief minister Late Captain Williamson A Sangma.

The house where the blaze occured is part of the compound where the ancestral home of the first chief minister is located. The original home was not affected by the blaze.
