Bajengdoba C&RD Block gets new building ** Sanction for building for 10 new C&RD blocks soon
Shillong, May 26: Chief minister Conrad Sangma has emphasised the role of block development offices in implementation of welfare schemes for rural population.

Around 70 per cent of government work at the grassroots depend on the block office, he said on Monday while inaugurating new building of Bajengdoba Block Development Office in North Garo Hills district.

Underlining the government’s commitment to build rural infrastructure in the state, he said block office is very important for implementation of rural welfare interventions.
C&RD minister AT Mondal, soil & water conservation minister Marcuise Marak, and MLAs Marthon Sangma, Pongseng Marak and Rupert Momin also attended the programme.

Referring to the dilapidated state of Bajengdoba C&RD Block office in the office, he said his government took the onus to upgrade block office infrastructure across the state.
“It is important that our office infrastructure is able to supplement the works of the officers. It should facilitate a conducive atmosphere for public delivery of services,” he said.

Informing that Rs 120 crore was sanctioned for upgradation of block offices in the state, he said the government will sanction building for 10 new C&RD blocks established during the tenure of the current government.
He also reiterated his government’s commitment to bring administration closer to the people.
“The top priority of the government is to provide services to the people. Through block offices, we want to ensure that public services are made easily accessible,” he said.
