Shillong, Oct 15: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday said the assembly elections early next year in Assam might cause delay in holding talks with the neighbouring state for resolving the differences in remaining six areas along the inter-state border.
The state government is likely to wait till the elections to hold further discussions with the neighbouring state, he said.

“There are multiple situations – we are meeting once in a while, we do discuss once in a while, but obviously election time is a busy time,” Sangma told reporters.
“In most likelihood, yes, we would not be able to take the discussion further immediately, so we may have to wait till the elections in Assam are over,” he said.
