Bryan Adams to kick off 5-city tour from Shillong today

Shillong, Dec 10: All schools in Shillong will remain closed on Tuesday on account of the concert of Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams at Polo Ground, Shillong.

Adams will kick-off 5-city India tour from Shillong, followed by Gurugram, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

The concert on Tuesday is expected to draw thousands of fans from across north-eastern states and beyond.

Anticipating huge crowd and traffic congestion due to the concert in the city, the Directorate of School Education & Literacy has ordered all schools to be closed on Tuesday. The decision was also based on a request from the Tourism department.

“All schools within the municipal limits of Shillong shall remain closed for the entire day on 10 December, 2024,” stated an official order.

Bryan Adams tour is set to showcase a selection of his greatest hits, as well as songs from his latest album, “So Happy It Hurts.” Released in 2022, the album features a collection of uplifting tracks that highlight Adams’ signature sound and lyrical prowess.

Adams is no stranger to the Indian music scene. He has performed in the country several times throughout his career, each time receiving an enthusiastic reception. His last visit was in 2018, when he performed in Mumbai and Bengaluru to sold-out crowds.

Adams first rose to fame in the early 1980s, and has since carved out a remarkable career with a string of chart-topping hits that have transcended generations.

His soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics have made him a household name, with classics like “Summer of ’69,” “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You,” and “Please Forgive Me” becoming anthems for love and nostalgia.

Over the years, he has earned numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award and multiple Juno Awards.
