BSF seizes contraband worth Rs 52.76 lakh

Shillong, Jan 21: BSF Meghalaya Frontier foiled multiple smuggling attempts of various contraband items to Bangladesh valued at Rs 52.76 lakh through the international border on Sunday.

During the operations launched by BSF troops in East Jaintia Hills and West Garo Hills, a substantial haul of illegal goods were intercepted including IV cannula sets, cough syrup, cattle, blankets, sugar, zeera, chocolate, and a TATA truck used for transporting the contraband items. 

The confiscated goods have been handed over to relevant Customs offices and police stations for further investigation and legal action.
