Tura, Oct 28: Tura police have arrested the culprit involved in lifting a motorcycle from near the residence of the Tura SP in Fancy Valley thanks to the aid of CCTV and a car’s dash-camera that recorded the incident on the night of 24th October.
A TVS Ronin motorcycle (ML08 K 7065) that was parked by the side of the road for the night was found missing on the morning of 24th October.
During the course of investigation, CCTV and car dash-cam footages from the nearby areas of place of occurrence helped police to identify the suspect as one Jamesmond K. Marak alias Simon, a notorious vehicle thief from Balsrigittim in North Garo Hills.
On identifying him from the footage, search operations were carried out at Bajengdoba and Kachikagra with the assistance and co-ordination of the North Garo Hills District police, Tura police informed.
On 27th October 2025, the accused was apprehended at Bajengdoba Police Station and later arrested by Tura Police. Efforts are underway to recover the stolen motorcycle.
According to police, the accused is a history sheeter with previous arrests and involved in over twenty cases of vehicle theft in West Garo Hills district alone. He was last arrested along with his gang members in the month of January 2025. He was currently on bail when he restarted his criminal activities.
