World Oral Health Day: Students take part in mass tooth-brushing

Shillong, March 20: Students and community members took part in a mass toothbrushing demonstration Friday at Asanangre playground as Asanang Primary Health Centre observed World Oral Health Day under the National Oral Health Programme.

Pupils from three local schools joined officials from Rongram block and PHC staff.

Dental surgeon Kalseng D. Momin led the demonstration, showing children correct brushing methods.

He said periodic brushing twice daily in the proper manner can prevent 90–95 percent of oral problems, and the objective was to educate children, parents and the public, many of whom “are still unaware of the correct methods.”

Block Development Officer Cherime Winchi R Sangma and Medical & Health Officer Galchi K. Sangma also attended the programme.
