Central Labour minister in Garo Hills, says Aadhar crucial for schemes

Baghmara, Jan 22: India’s Minister for Labour & Employment and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Smt Shobha Karandlaje has urged citizens of Garo Hills to get enrolment with Aadhar and other government mandated national identification cards to ensure hassle free availing of government schemes and facilities with the target of making the country ‘Vikshit Bharat’ or ‘developed India’ by the year 2047.

The Labour and Employment, MSME minister arrived in Baghmara, South Garo Hills on Wednesday to review the performance of various line departments in regards to proper implementation of different central sector skills. She is the second central minister to visit Baghmara in the last one week.

In a review meeting at Baghmara New Circuit House conference hall with officials, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Richard Yanthan, IAS, minister Karandlaje called for collective responsibility in developing South Garo Hills district and reviewed central schemes relating to Industries & Commerce, Labour Department, Education, Tourism, Skill Development, State Roads and NH, Health Department, Social Welfare, BADO, Agri- Horticulture Department, PHE and others.

Issues and challenges with regards to implementation of some schemes were also addressed before the minister by the concerned officials.

During the meeting, the union minister enquired in depth about the steps that have been carried out by the government departments in implementing the various schemes under the district and provided suggestions for improvement.

She stressed on the need for adequate awareness about the central schemes and emphasized on the importance of citizens getting registered with Aadhar, Eshram, NCS and other government requirements.

She informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vikshit Bharat by 2047 includes the entire North East which is why central ministers are visiting the region more frequently to assess the progress and the challenges within the State.

As part of her visit, the Union Minister also dropped into Anganwadi Centres and interacted with the beneficiaries from ICDS, PMEGP Scheme, Labour, MSRLS.She held one on one interaction with the people and sought their feedback in getting various centrally sponsored schemes for their benefit.
