Central minister reviews central projects implementation in Garo Hills

Tura, Aug 23:  Taking steps to ensure proper implementation of central projects, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, held a high level virtual meeting with district officials of North Garo Hills on Saturday, focusing on overcoming hurdles in the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes.

The video conference is aimed at pinpointing bottlenecks, address challenges, and devise effective solutions to enhance the district’s progress.

During the conference, North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Saini  gave an update on the district’s priorities and progress. He highlighted critical ground-level challenges, including infrastructure deficits and maintenance issues affecting various projects. The DC also appealed for additional funding and personnel to bolster departmental efficiency and drive overall development.

District officials presented detailed insights into their respective departments, raising concerns about scheme execution and proposing policy modifications tailored to local needs.

Departments reviewed included Health, Public Health Engineering (PHE), District Cottage Industries Centre (DCIC), Horticulture-Agriculture, Soil & Water Conservation, Education, Labour, Public Works Department (Roads), Community & Rural Development (MNREGS), and Social Welfare.

Following an in-depth discussion, union minister Kumar assured officials of follow-up actions with higher authorities to streamline scheme implementation and expand outreach. The meeting underscored a collaborative push toward addressing local challenges and fostering sustainable growth in North Garo Hills.
