Bridge below Umiam dam to be ready by March 2026: Tynsong
Shillong, Dec 10: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday reviewed the proposed construction of the flyover and new bridge projects in the city.
Speaking to the media after chairing the meeting, Tynsong said the Centre has agreed in principle to extend the length of the flyover to Barik point instead of ending it till the old Anjalee petrol pump junction.

“(As per earlier) proposal the flyover will end up to the old Anjali petrol pump junction but ultimately when we requested the government of India for extension of the flyover (till Barik point), they agreed in principle,” he said adding “Now even the land issue, the design of the flyover are being workout and being prepared by NHIDCL which will be disposed of up to Barik.”
Tynsong added that the government is working on extending the flyover, with NHIDCL preparing the design and addressing land issues.
The deputy chief minister further announced that the new bridge constructed below the Umiam dam bridge will be operationalized by March 2026.
The bridge is almost completed and the construction of the approach road is also on and by end of March will make it operational and once that is done, all night super buses, loaded trucks can ply from there.”
