Civic body lauds devp work at Nongpoh

Shillong, May 20: The Nongpoh Town Committee (NTC) has expressed gratitude to the state government led by chief minister Conrad K Sangma for implementing several development projects in Nongpoh town through the Urban Affairs department.

Nongpoh, a small town in Ri-Bhoi district, has long required various development initiatives, and under the current MDA government, many such projects have been implemented, said a statement issued by the committee led by chairman SF Lyngdoh and secretary Rayonald Kharkamni.

“In 2023–2024, the NTC received Rs 1.45 crore under the ID Scheme for development in 11 localities. For 2024–25, over Rs 6 crore has been allocated for further projects,” they said.

The NTC thanked the chief minister, the urban affairs minister, and the department for their continued support in improving and beautifying Nongpoh town, they added.
