Civils hospitals to have dedicated power supply

Shillong, Mar 27: Power infrastructure of all civil hospitals in the state will be upgraded to ensure dedicated and uninterrupted power supply to the hospitals.

The Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) has taken up Shillong and Tura civil hospitals, on a pilot basis, to ensure uninterrupted power supply, in case of any eventuality.

It has also asked for a plot of land in Sericulture office campus in Tura to set up exclusive 33/11 KV and 25MVA sub stations for Tura civil hospital, said power minister AT Mondal after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday..

The MeECL has also sought land opposite Danagre BSF camp and at MTC land at Dakopgre.

“The government has agreed to give these three plots of land,” Mondal said.

“With these three sub-stations coming up at Tura, the load factor of Tura will be taken care of so that there is no excess load and sub-station going out of service,” he said.

According to the minister, the cabinet also approved a proposal for upgradation of NEHU and Mawlai sub-stations to meet the increased demand for power.

“We are having another new sub-station at Mawkhanu to take the load factor of Shillong city,” he added.
