CM celebrates academic excellence of SSLC Toppers from Garo Hills

Tura, April 18: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, today hosted a felicitation programme at his residence in Tura to honour outstanding performers from the Garo Hills region who excelled in the SSLC Examination 2026.

The programme was organised to recognise and celebrate the academic achievements of students who secured top positions in this year’s examinations. Extending his congratulations, the Chief Minister praised the students for their hard work, discipline, dedication, and perseverance, noting that their success brings pride not only to their families but also to the entire region and the State.

Addressing the gathering, he encouraged the students to remain focused and continue striving for excellence in their future endeavours. He highlighted the importance of education in shaping the future of the State and urged young achievers to use their knowledge and skills to contribute positively to society.

He also acknowledged the significant role played by parents, teachers, and educational institutions in guiding and supporting students. He emphasised that collective effort is essential in strengthening the education system and building a strong foundation for quality learning in Meghalaya. “It is important to support children at every stage of their journey. While education and academic materials are important, shaping their character and direction is equally crucial for the future of our State and country,” he said.

Referring to the inclement weather during the programme, the Chief Minister drew a parallel with life’s challenges, stating that difficulties are an inevitable part of life. He remarked that what matters most is resilience and determination. “Challenges will always come, but what defines us is how we face them—by staying positive, persevering, and never giving up,” he said.

Underscoring the importance of values and character, the Chief Minister stated that true success lies in being a good human being. “No achievement is meaningful if one does not remain humble and grounded. Respect for elders and staying connected to one’s roots are essential qualities in life,” he said.

He further cautioned that success without humility does not lead to fulfillment, stressing that moral values, humility, and integrity are essential for a meaningful life.

The Chief Minister concluded his address by thanking all those present and extending his best wishes to the students, parents, and educators for continued success in the future.

During the programme, the toppers were presented with certificates and tokens of appreciation in recognition of their academic achievements.
