Shillong, January 22: An indoor sports hall built at the cost of ₹1.55 crore was inaugurated by chief minister Conrad K Sangma at Lummawbah here on Wednesday.
Addressing a function organised by Dorbar Shnong Lummawbah and Lummawbah Sports & Cultural Club on the occasion, the chief minister attributed the fruition of the sports facility to Hamletson Dohling, adviser to CM, and the Dorbar Shnong.
“I am also happy to see that today, the community, political leadership and the government is working hand in hand for uplift of our localities, society and the state as a whole,” he said.
He further informed that the government believes in working with the community respecting culture, tradition and practices which is why all the programs and policies of the government stresses on community participation.
He also assured of all support to make Lummawbah Indoor Sports Hall into an active zone where youth can engage in different sports.
“Sports department and sports infrastructure has in the last seven years seen a massive transformation to give an opportunity to the youth to pursue their talents,” he said.
Meanwhile, he assured of intervention in the proposal of the Dorbar Shnong to the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs Ministry for an auditorium for arts and culture.
