
Shillong, May 15: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday inaugurated a two-day national seminar titled “His Footprints in Time: Trailblazers of Meghalaya in the Making of Modern India” at Synod College, organized by the Centre for Historical Research Synod College (CHRSC).
Member of Parliament, Dr. W R Kharlukhi, also graced the event as the guest of honour.

Addressing the participants, Chief Minister Sangma commended Synod College for its leadership in hosting impactful seminars, stating, “This seminar not only celebrates the lives of Meghalaya’s trailblazers but also the inspiration they ignite for future generations.”

Emphasizing the importance of documentation, he added, “Compiling such seminars into books or papers is vital for knowledge sharing and preserving our legacy.” He also announced the expansion of the Chief Minister’s Research Grant to support more scholars, reinforcing the state’s commitment to research and documentation.

The seminar aims to honor Meghalaya’s luminaries who have left an indelible mark on the socio-economic, educational, cultural, and political spheres of the state and nation. The Chief Minister highlighted that recognizing these contributions would inspire the youth, saying, “Celebrating these trailblazers will motivate the younger generation to follow in their footsteps.”

The event featured felicitations for family members of distinguished personalities in fields such as social service, education, and politics, acknowledging their enduring legacies.
