Guwahtai, April 10: With the two-phase Assam Panchayat elections scheduled for May 2 and May 7, the NDA alliance, led by the BJP, has launched a high-powered campaign blitz across the state. At the centre of this push are Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia, who are set to lead from the front with a packed schedule of rallies and meetings aimed at energizing the party base and ensuring a sweeping victory.
CM Sarma will address 27 public rallies, while Saikia is lined up for over 50 campaign meetings in key constituencies. The BJP’s campaign strategy is focused, mobilized, and aggressive—marking a sharp contrast with the Congress party, which continues to be plagued by internal discord and lack of cohesion on the ground.
Dilip Saikia, while addressing party workers, urged full commitment from every level of the organization. “Every karyakarta must give their best. This is not just about elections—it’s about building a stronger Assam through capable grassroots leadership,” he said. He emphasized that the NDA’s strength lies in its unity, noting that alliances are meaningful only when they’re built on respect, honesty, and mutual trust.

Out of 397 Zila Parishad constituencies, the BJP has finalized candidates for 318 seats, with 74 seats allocated to its long-time ally, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). The remaining seats have been distributed among other alliance partners following intensive seat-sharing discussions at the mandal and district levels.
In a notable move reflecting the party’s push for gender representation, 176 Zila Parishad seats have been given to women, including 4 out of the 5 remaining seats declared today. The 2,157 Anchalik Panchayat seats have also been allotted following a detailed consensus process within the NDA framework.
The candidate announcement has immediately sparked momentum, with many nominees filing their nomination papers today. Party workers at the grassroots level are shifting into full campaign mode, preparing for what promises to be one of the most tightly contested Panchayat elections in recent years.
As BJP leaders gear up for high-octane public outreach, the party is positioning itself as not just an election contender, but as a stable, performance-driven alliance ready to strengthen rural governance. With the top leadership actively leading from the front, the BJP’s message is clear: it’s going all in to retain and expand its dominance at the grassroots level.
